About the Artist
Charles Williams is a contemporary visual artist from Georgetown, South Carolina. He holds a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design and an MFA from UNC Greensboro. Williams has attended summer artist residencies across the nation and recently worked with the Mississippi Museum of Art through the Center for Art and Public Exchange residency program, which will debut in 2021.
Solo traveling exhibitions include Sun + Light and Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See. These are bold figurative works that reimagine and reignite moments from Civil Rights history, bringing them into our present as flashpoints of brightness and power. Water and the Southern landscape also feature heavily in Williams’ work. His fascination with roiling oceans and serene marshes become a meditation on how bodies of water inspire wonder and fear, inviting personal reflection. His photorealistic handling of the paint brings the viewer to eye level with a beautiful yet uncontainable force.
The following works are sold, but Williams is available for landscape commissions. Please email for inquiry and details.
