Robert Burns, Jr. is a writer, a painter, an art collector, and a retired architect in Jackson, Mississippi. An avid print collector, Burns first shared his art with the Mississippi Museum of Art in 2003 with an initial gift of Man Monkey, an etching by John Sloan. Since then, he has donated 36 additional works on paper in memory of his parents, Robert and Hortense Burns.
Burns’ paintings have been in juried shows at the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery in Memphis; the Masur Museum of Fine Arts in Monroe; and the Birmingham Museum of Art. He also has had one-man shows in Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. He studied architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology and worked as an architect for over 25 years. In 1987, he published a collection of his poems, which was reprinted in 2007.
